Pretty self-explanatory title I guess...
Sometimes I forget just how good Arctic Monkeys are, but most importantly, how good Alex Turner is as a songwriter.
Black Treacle is a perfect example of this: elaborate metaphors and sounds ("does it tune you in when you chew your chin?"), all sung in a fantastic Yorkshire accent, all to express nothing but young - sometimes unrequited - love.
AM are one of my favourite bands (bet you could tell from my blog title, heh) and even though I'm not crazy about their last album, the lads' pure talent is undeniable.
You know when you don't listen to an album, or a band, for a long time and then you do and you remember how much you enjoyed that music? From the lyrics, to the rhythm... Well, I'm listening to Suck It And See now, the album that made me fall in love with Arctic Monkeys, and I can't help but feel nostalgic about that era: where I was at the time, the people I met, or to put it more simply - how this fantastic album soundtracked a pretty special time of my life.
Now before I get too sentimental about the power of music and of certain bands in particular, I'd better go.
